Block no 39. Wooden block stamps for block printing

You can use these hand carved wooden block stamps for applying fabric paint & inks on fabrics, paper, saree, suit, dupatta, cushion cover, table cover, curtains, bedsheets, napkin, henna print on your skin, walls, textile printing and more or less any surface you can think of.

See the scale in picture for size reference. As it’s handwork, so size and design may vary slightly.

USAGE INSTRUCTIONS: Watch the attached video for block printing colours technique.

STEP 1: Soak the wooden blocks in mustard oil for at least 1 day before using.

STEP 2: Layout/spread the fabric on surface and it should be properly stretched with the help of pins/weights at the corners. Also place some cloth piece underneath the fabric which will help the wooden blocks while applying pressure on them.

STEP 3: Mix fabric paints as shown in the video. The consistency of colors should not be too thick nor too thin.

STEP 4: Use foam sponge paint brush and spread fabric colours evenly on wooden blocks.

STEP 5: Before applying on your main project, first apply it on some paper for practice so that you can observe the block print design.

STEP 6: Carefully place the wooden black on fabric and apply equal pressure all over. Do not expect 100% perfection in achieving design uniformity.

STEP 7: Handle & Care: Wash the blocks and foam sponge paint brush after every usage to avoid drying of paints on them. Wipe with soft cloth and dry naturally as it will increase the life of blocks.

STEP 8: Ironing Instructions: Let the fabric colours dry for 1 to 2 days. After drying, place some paper on backside before ironing. Iron it from the backside/reverse side of printed area which will make the colours permanent.
